Letham ran up their third victory of the season in convincing fashion, but every credit must be paid to Scone who managed to score twice against them. This was the first time the Letham defence has conceded a goal.

Saturday 15th November 1969

Letham City Boys V Tayside ( League - Away )

Tayside 3 - Letham 0
This game was a cracker and one of the best matches played for a long time. Play swung from end to end in the first half and it was from a free kick that Tayside opened their account. The kick was taken by R Smeaton and glided in to the net by B Sampson. Letham attacked strongly in the second half but were foiled by a stout defence. Tayside scored two further goals by D Cochrane and B Sampson. Hard luck on Letham to lose for the first time this season and I feel they may well play worse in the future and win handsomely.

Saturday 22nd November 1969

Team: Corcoran, Rattray, Dow, Whytock, Sinclair, Rylance, Melley, Low, Campbell, Rintoul, Jenkins. Substitute R Falconer

Letham City Boys V Roselea ( League - Away )

Roselea 0 - Letham 4
The Roselea - Letham fixture last week was a first class game with good football from both sides. Roselea had the advantage of the wind in the first half and were on top for long spells in this period. At the interval however, they had a deficit of one goal scored by right-winger R Falconer. Letham took control in the second-half and scored further goals through D Smith(2) and N Campbell.

Saturday 14th March 1970

Letham City Boys V Tayside ( League - Home )

Letham 5 - Tayside 2
A very important game in the League Championship was the fixture between Letham and Tayside, the home side winning by 5 goal s to 2. This was a good game and despite the difference of 3 goals neither side was on top for any great length of time. Tayside's forwards had an off day and missed some good chances. The star men in this game were D Smith of Letham with 3 goals and W Falconer of Tayside.

Saturday 21st March 1970

Letham City Boys V Southend ( League - Away )
Team: Corcoran, Whytock, Dow, Sinclair, Smith, Melley, Smeaton, Rylance, Low, Falconer, Campbell, Rintoul, Jenkins.

Southend 2 - Letham 5
This was a very important league game for both sides and one which both teams gave of their best. Letham opened the scoring by D Smith and were on top at this stage. Southend however fought back and were awarded a penalty. The kick was taken by P Scott and brilliantly saved by P Corcoran, the Letham keeper, but the ball broke loose to R Feret who scored. Southend scored again through G Cantwell shortly afterwards. The visitors came storming back and scored goals by D Smith and R Jenkins before half-time. Letham were in command in the second half and D Smith completed his hat-trick. R Jenkins scored the other goal. A very good win for Letham in ther fight to be League Champions.

Saturday 28th March 1970

Letham City Boys V Goodlyburn YC ( League - Home )
Team: Corcoran, Dow, Whytock, Rintoul, Smeaton, Rylance, Falconer, Campbell, Smith, Melley, Jenkins. Sub: J Low.

Letham 4 - Goodlyburn YC 0
The home side were on top most of the game. They opened with a quick goal by Jenkins and continued to press for the first half but without further success. The second half was similar and it was not until late in the game that the issue was beyond doubt. A Melley of Letham scoring a hat-trick. Goodlyburn although defeated played quite well and could do well next season. Letham gained another 2 points towards the league championship.

Letham 4 - Railway Athletic 1
Letham gained two more points in their quest for the league title against Railway. According to a Letham official, although they won, this was about their worst display of the season. Railway keep on impressing.

Tuesday 7th April 1970

Letham City Boys V Southend ( 2nd. Rd. Bob Croll Cup - Away )

Southend 0 - Letham 2
This was a hard fought tie with neither quarter asked or given. Although both teams did not play to their usual standard it was a good game. Letham missed numerous chances to add to their score but were foiled by a great display of goalkeeping by H Uibukand, who was the star of the game. The outstanding player for Letham was again D Rylance . The important goals were scored by A Rintoul and A Melley.

Team: Corcoran, Dow, Whytock, Sinclair, Rylance, Smeaton, Jenkins, Falconer, Smith, Rintoul, Melley, Low, Campbell.

Letham 3 - Tayside 4
This was a cracker of a game from start to finish between two very competent sides. Both played a brand of football full of skill and endeavour that would have been a credit to some of our more senior teams. Tayside were on top for the first 10 minutes and were rewarded by a fine goal by Gibson. They scored a further goal in 20minutes through Mathewson, but Letham kept fighting and shortly before half-time scored two fine goals by Campbell and Falconer . Tayside struck early in the second half with a great goal from 20 yards by Smeaton but Letham again equalised through Melley. At this stage it was anyone's game. With about 10 minutes to go Tayside were awarded a soft penalty and Mason scored at the second attempt. The cup was presented to D Cochrane, captain of Tayside by Mr W Croll. Star men were J Smeaton, D Rylance and R Whytock for Letham and R Smeaton, F Mathewson and G Steele for Tayside

Perth 4 - Kirkcaldy 2
Rylance, Cochrane and Melley were getting through a power of work in midfield, all ways urging on the forwards with fine through passes . Rylance scored a fourth goal with a finely placed header, which gave the goalkeeper no chance.
In a no failure Perth side, Melley must be rated as man of the match. His tackling and distribution were immaculate . The other top players for Perth were Rylance, Cochrane and Cowie.

AGM of City Boy Association

Chairman P Holland
Vice Chairman J Pearson
Interim Secy/treas P Holland
President Mrs E Donaldson
Vice Presidents Messrs J McKinlay,W H Croll, R Yacomini

The retiring chairman, A J McAdam of Letham and Secretary/treasurer J O Ferguson were honoured with LIFE MEMBERSHIPS in recognition of their services to the Association.
Three new clubs were admitted to membership: Abernethy YC, Bridge of Earn YC and Earnbank Swifts.

So ended Alistair J McAdam's involvement with Letham and Youth football. He too would receive a LIFE MEMBERSHIP from Letham F.C.. Ally who had not played serious football had been an inspiration for the club. Not only for his administration but also for his persona in managing to sign talented youngsters and blend them in to successful sides year after year. How fitting in his last season before he moved to Edinburgh with Scottish Gas that he should enjoy the best season ever for his City Boy team. He would be almost impossible to replace and this was proved over the next few years.
