Juveniles Season 1960/1961

The club was founded in November 1960. The founder members were Ken Drummond,
Bill Hebner, Syd Lee and Trevor Pritchard. Plans were formulated in the Washington Café in Rannoch Road, which was the in meeting place at that time. All had played City Boy football
(Under 18’s) Ken & Syd for Letham City Boys who played at Huntingtower, Bill for the Boys Club and Trevor for Burghmuir Rovers. Alas the league had gone defunct and the view was that we knew a lot of good players to form a team.

A trial game was held on the South Inch and following this three friendly games were arranged. We lost to Allanvale (away at Blackford) and Royal United but defeated St. Leonard’s on the South Inch.

Strips were donated from the defunct Letham City Boys, which were the Aston Villa colours of Sky Blue sleeves, and Maroon. I remember that we used to turn up the short sleeves that revealed a satin edging.

There is a strong rumour going round that Letham ( Perth) intend to make application for membership of the League and Association for next season. This seems to be well founded as they have been playing friendly games with some clubs these past few weeks. Their acting secretary is asked to get in contact with the Secretary –Mr Peter Reid, Stewart Place, Caledonian Road for any information. Peter Reid was just a chancer because we had numerous meetings with him since the previous November and he advised us on how to contact the other clubs to arrange the friendly games.
